The Trailer

The Review

Watching the first half of movie, I felt really annoyed with Max. This kid is in serious need of help, with his wild mood swings what not.

But that’s all character development as they say, and when Max finally ends up on the “Island of Retarded Monsters”, he turned for the better.

Yes the movie might be slow, and the scenes draggy but it’s an excellent retelling of one’s troubled childhood.

The special effects was top notch but I wouldn’t want to see it again, it’s too depressing for me.

The Good

  • Animation is excellent
  • Wise choice of voice-over using James Gandolfini

The Bad

  • A little too dark depressing for some
  • Has cheap violence, not a film for the kids, despite it’s monster appeal
