The Trailer

The Review

The premise of this plot has potential, it’s like a sci-fi version of “The Lord of the Rings”, but the production fell apart with terrible adaptation, and a novice director.

Sam Neill is Sam Neill, gung-ho to the last, for which we all love him for, while the kids cast was fun to watch. For me the acting part of the film was convincing, but the start-stop scenes that disrupt the flow of the movie annoyed me.

The editing was ‘half-baked’ done, and I felt it was a rushed job in the making of this movie. But lo-and-behold however of the beautiful settings of New Zealand. The cinematography captured amazing sights at every scene.

To me, this film looks more like a travelogue rather than a drama fantasy.

The Good

  • Excellent visual effects

The Bad

  • Cardboard characters
  • The adaptation failed to complement the TV series
  • Has scary scenes and not ideal for the really young kids
