The TrailerThe ReviewStorm Warriors is a movie based on a popular Hong Kong “wuxia” comic series. It’s a sequel to Storm Riders, which was made some 11 years back. The difference between the two movie is that Storm Riders is a better movie in my opinion for me, as it has a more subtle CGI in terms of the fights scenes, which balances out with the script at hand. While Storm Warriors on the other went all-out in its graphic novel style of fights, with its extreme close-ups and closely-edited montages CGI, but fared poorly in the script. It is not bad of course, and it turns out we can get to gawk at some really massive and awesome martial arts on displays, but too much of CGI can be an overkill although. Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng returns to play Cloud and Wind respectively. The setting is probably a few years after Storm Riders left-off. Cloud has grown from an anxious teen to a seasoned warrior, while Wind is still the same gentle but now wiser pugilist. There’s a new bad dude in town Lord Godless (Simon Yam), whom with his son (Nicholas Tse) invades China, and it’s up to Cloud and Wind to repel the foreign invaders. To really appreciate this movie, I really recommend you to watch Storm Riders first if you’ve not done so, as half the time, you’ll be trying to connect all the puzzling dots if you’re a virgin to the Storm Riders legacy. And to make the matter worse, Cloud and Wind communicates most of the time using their looks and expression. There’s limited dialogue, and this could pisses some people off, trying to make sense of the movie. The Good
