The Review
This movie is the American Gigolo version of the 21st century. Pretty boy Ashton Kutcher plays Nikki, a handsome and arrogant stud, who provides an enjoyable sexual experience for wealthy, lonely older women, while living off these rich sugar mommies.
There’s pretty much a lot of flesh in the film, but it fails to generate that much interest from me as the sex scenes looks coldly staged to me. For a start, the character is shallow to begin with. It took me awhile to warm up to Ashton’s character.
Aesthetically looking as the cast was, this romantic comedy film storyline was flat. Basically Ashton character, Nikki was leeching of Samantha (Anne Heche), and while she was away on business, Nikki hooked up with other younger girls.
Nikki then met his female equivalent, Heather (Margarita Levieva) who herself sleeps with wealthy older men for favors. Nikki falls hard for Heather and promises to reform for he’s in love.
The movie to me portrayed realities of casual sex and serves up the values of greed and excess as the core of the film morality tale.
Ashton performance was kinda ok for me, and I was glad there were only few clichés that’s usually associated with gigolos, focusing instead on the emotional detachment aspect that we are all guilty for in one point of our own life.
The Good
- Sexy cast
- Plenty of clothes disrobing
- Memorable ending
The Bad
- Shallow plot
- A little depressing watching this
- You’re better off seeing “Shampoo”, far better
