The Review
I’ve to admit I’ve grown bored of the Saw series, it was on the decline since Saw 3, but to my surprise the sixth edition brought back my interest in my beloved horror thriller series.
Saw 6 didn’t disappoint me as there was the usual oh-so-familiar infamous traps that we all love, but the plus points was that the film tied up the loose ends, and the ending has one of the best cliffhangers.
Do I hear Saw VII in the future? Well expect one people.
Saw VI starts off with a guy waking up in a vial trap where he has minutes to complete the Jigaw task at hand. The movie deals with Detective Hoffman emerging as Jigsaw’s unchallenged successor.
But the Jigsaw’s legacy is in doubt, with Special Agent Strahm dead and FBI drawing closer to Hoffman, once again the game was set in motion, and from this you’ll finally understand the reason behind Jigsaw’s grand scheme.
The downside however, you’ll need to refresh yourself with previous Saw movies as there will be returning characters. Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith, Costas Mandylor and Betsy Russell returns to reprise their old respective roles.
The character development in the movie was excellent, and there’s a fresh new spin to the plot as issues of the health care and economy was weaved into the story.
The ending left numerous possibilities to what the next Saw movie will be, and this film is as good as the classic Saw II. New fans will grow to like this movie, while hardcore fans will eat this up.
The Good
- Excellent character development
- Death traps were good
- The movie wrapped the series amazingly
The Bad
- Too short of a movie in my opinion
- The humor in the film was not funny, might as well leave it out
- Impossible to remember all the different characters, as they were from previous Saw movies returning for this film.
