The Trailer

The Review

Paa is a movie by Bollywood that’s done out of the usual Indian film mold. The film dares to be different with a fresh storyline, but then again being different, doesn’t mean all good.

The movie entertaining as it is, it could have been better of course.

The plot entails Auro (Amitabh Bachchan) who suffers from a rare genetic disorder progeria, which makes a person looks older than one is, due to the accelerated aging.

It is through this affliction that the disease itself that brought about the parents together.

The makeup in the movie was superb, and for a 60 plus year old Amitabh Bachchan to play a 12 year old kid is not easy I reckon, props for that.

However the film was slow-paced, and I would believe a much tighter editing would make it less of a task to watch, and without the risk of missing many key plots of the movie.

The songs and score was well done, the lyrics works well with the scene at hand.

I feel that the movie has it moments, but with a poor direction, I felt it was too stretched, and it just doesn’t tug at the hearts where it should have been for such a disease.

The director should instead focus more on the emotional side of the story rather than getting more laughs with its comedic side.

The Good

  • Excellent music and scores
  • You would fall in love with Auro
  • The cast was excellent, especially Amitabh Bachchan

The Bad

  • Too long
  • Didn’t move me
  • Some scenes puzzles me
