The TrailerThe ReviewThis movie is like Korea’s answer to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Fortunately enough it’s not similar to those Korean goofy comedies like, “My Wife is a Gangster”, thank god mind you; instead “My Girlfriend is an Agent” has a entertaining outcome. Korea’s biggest television star Kim Ha-Neul and Kang Ji-Hwan took to the stage of the two main protagonist for the movie starring opposite each other as a couple, and they had a comfortable chemistry. You might even be wondering if the chemistry would rub off in the real life from all the kissing scenes. The movie is a lighted-heartedly action romantic comedy, but do expect the action part as the weakest link for the film. It was poorly choreographed, but sufficiently enough to entertain. The story starts three years earlier where Su-Ji (Kim Ha-Neul) is a travel agent who is a bride-to-be to a geek Jae-Jun (Kang Ji-Hwan). Jae-Jun it seems has grown tired of Su-Ji’s hard to believe excuses and absences, and decides to dump her. Unknown to him is that Su-Ji is actually a secret clandestine agent. Jae-Jun calls Su-ji while in the airport to reach out for one last time, and as usual Su-ji was unreachable. Su-ji was in fact about to bust an International crime organization at the same moment. Fast forward three years later, both of these former lover crossed path while in a men’s restroom. Su-ji was on a Russian mafia case involving biological weapons posing as a janitor. And this time round, unknown to Su-ji, Jae-jun is actually on undercover himself, a bumbling agent, but with an entirely different branch from Su-ji. Both of them are actually pursuing the same bad guys but with different agencies. It seems that when Jae-jun left Korea three years back, he was actually going on a lead in Russia to track the Russian mobsters that Su-jin was working to bust three years ago. From then onwards in the men’s restroom chance meeting, the former lovers tries to rekindle their romantic relationship, while at the same trying to conceal both their respective secret identities from each other. The movie is pretty much predictable and basically it’s about concealing one’s true occupation from one’s loved one if you want to interpret the movie’s intention. We all faces the dilemma in relationships either to be honest or making up a while lie which could in fact spare our loved ones pain and anguish. Well what do you expect of a lightweight, romantic comedy right. When you have two good looking stars, the eye-candy just outweighs everything hur. “My Girlfriend is an Agent” will keep you entertained until the very end. The Good
