It's Complicated

Synopsis

Jane (Streep) is in an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Baldwin) after a decade of divorce. But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son’s college graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable – an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.

The Trailer

The Review

Is it just me or “It’s Complicated” is rather cliché.

This romantic comedy I feel will have its major bulk of audiences probably those in their 40′s and above.

I’m not being biased here or singling out such 40+ adults, but the story, characters and lifestyle suits such demographics.

Personally there’s too much of character development to a point it darn-right boring, and to top it off, it seems that the director is trying to squeeze everything in the last half of the movie.

Despite great acting all-around, it’s an over-rated movie that needs to inject more freshness into its script.

I do wish Steve Martin had more on-screen time however, that’s the only highlight for me from this movie.

The Good

  • Witty one-liners
  • Excellent acting

The Bad

  • Slow-moving storyline
  • ‘Disturbing’ scenes of 60-year-olds making-out!
