Synopsis

“Ice Kacang Puppy Love” is based on Taiwan-based Malaysian Ah Niu growing up in Penang. In this directorial debut, he also stars as the boy who is a little shy. It’s love at first sight when a girl moves to his forsaken Penang village and he grows up with her through primary and secondary school. However, she’s a bit of a tomboy who can fight off bullies while he’s so timid that he can’t even make coffee at his father’s shop.

The Review

This is a sweet movie, yeah that’s the right term to use, as watching it invoked feelings of nostalgia for me.

I would never have thought that singer Ah Niu would direct this one if I didn’t read the credits.

Those who are familiar with local stars, you’ll get to view an array of Malaysia pop singers on-screen, a feast for the eyes and ears.

Storywise there’s not much of a twist, but plain ol’ simple plot about life and love.

I enjoyed watching this drama cum comedy, and I’m sure you will too.
