Green Zone

Synopsis

“Green Zone”, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences. During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission. Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

The Trailer

The Review

As much as I like Matt Damon, the story failed him, and it bombed at the box-office.

Green Zone is an intense war movie, but the topic it’s trying to tackle is one that everyone has grown tired of, the Iraqi war.

We all now know that the main reason behind the war waged in Iraq is one of under the false pretext of Weapon of Mass destruction fear.

And now there’s a film regarding it.

I would like to think many Americans and impartial people like me, would rather let the Iraqis be, and pull-out the troops.

There’s a reason why it’s called civil war, and any sovereign nation would want to expel any outside forces from meddling in their politics.

Political issues aside, the movie is very gritty, and if you like military movies, it has excellent combat scenes.

The Good

  • This is ‘Jason Bourne’ in Iraq
  • Gunfire battles and chases are breathe-taking, hold on to your seat

The Bad

  • The shaky-cam scenes might be disorienting for some
  • Some of the abbreviation might confuse and annoy people. It comes unexplained
