The Review
If you love cute fuzzy animals, this is the movie for you. Meet the special FBI trained secret agent animals called G-Force. You have team leader Darwin (Sam Rockwell), martial arts expert Juarez (Penelope Cruz), weapons specialist Blaster (Tracy Morgan), intelligence officer Speckles (Nicolas Cage), and recon operator Mooch (Dee Bradley Baker).
Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and the movie bill footed by Walt Disney Pictures, it’s a 3-D spectacle at its best.
Using Disney Digital 3-D, you’ll be in awe at the realism of live animation and on-screen performances. I myself can’t keep up with what is real and what is CGI.
G-Force was written by siblings Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, and it’s directed under the helm of Hoyt Yeatman, who has worked with Bruckheimer on numerous successful big projects previously such as The Rock, Armageddon, and Kangaroo Jack.
Storyline wise it’s pretty straight forward. A team of trained secret agent guinea pigs who are out of their element, has to stop a diabolical evil billionaire bent on world domination with household appliances
I believe ‘G-Force’ was made for the kids and I wasn’t surprised that animals’ characters literally stole the show. The human characters however are dead-pan dull, and full of clichés.
Overall I thought this movie was funny, cute, and full of action, comedy and suspense. Not a Disney classic, but still a worthy animated show.
Catch it if you want to pass some time that is if you can stand the hordes of kids flocking to see it. Expect mayhem in the theaters.
The Good
- Good taste humor
- You’ll adore the animal characters
- Ideal for families and children
- Cool CGI. The best 3D I’ve seen in ages
The Bad
- Very cliché
- Some over the top action bits
- I foresee a bad sequel in the horizon
- Your kids probably would want a guinea pig by the end of the show
