Synopsis

Supernatural thriller “Devil” (also known as “The Night Chronicles: Devil”) is the first of three features that M. Night Shyamalan will produce through The Night Chronicles. The first instalment surrounds a group of people trapped in an elevator, who soon realise that the devil is among them in human form.

It’s been awhile since I had a good scare, and it’s all thanks to “Devil”. With M. Night Shyamalan at the helm as producer, you’ll know this is worth watching.

The fact that the whole movie premise was within a confined space of an elevator, it made me feel genuinely claustrophobic to a certain extend, even though I’m sitting in a wide open-spaced cinema.

This is a perfect success film case-study. A simple plot that works. No over-the-top acting, expensive special effects, to complicated storyline. You just need the right atmosphere build-up, and excellent movie pacing.

Overall a smart film that you shouldn’t miss!

• A movie that will keep you guessing and on your toes, so to speak
• Tight editing and script

The Bad

• Too dark, too many of such scenes. I wish there were more illumination
• Not for the faint of heart
