Aisha

Synopsis

Adapted from a British novel titled “Emma” by Jane Austen, the story tells about Aisha (Sonam Kapoor), a girl who loves matchmaking and tries to play cupid for singles. Aisha’s problem is that she meddles in everyone’s business, which can be annoying at times, especially for Arjun (Abhay Deol) who has his own set of rules and feels that Aisha should stop interfering in others’ lives. Belonging to the Delhi upper class society, Aisha leads her life as per her rules and manages to control all around her. Caught in her web are Pinky (Ira Dubey), her best friend, the small town girl Shefali (Amrita Puri), the west Delhi boy Randhir (Cyrus Sahukar) and the hunk Dhruv (Arunoday Singh).

The Trailer

The Review

Jane Austen’s Emma has finally reaches Bollywood shores, and the adaptation was entertaining … somewhat.

Firstly despite many adaptations of Emma, the movie is fresh with ideas

It’s modern of course, and the fusion of colors in the film was brilliant.

Overall it was a fun production, but I have my reservation regarding the lead actress, she was rather too perky for me, that’s it truly annoying at times.

Well whatever language Emma is translated, the tale tells of how love can’t be bought or forced, and love is just.

The Good

  • Excellent music arrangement
  • Yes the movie even adapted ‘Clueless’

The Bad

  • Lack of character development, so superficial
